Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of NAIFA Past President Mark D. Johnson, CLU, RHU, ChFC, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025.

Mark devoted more than 30 years to the insurance and financial services profession as founder and CEO of Johnson Insurance Consultants. He served as NAIFA President in 1997-1998. He was a visionary leader within our association, guiding a pivotal Strategic Planning Task Force in the mid-1990s and, importantly, serving as Chair of Life Happens (then LIFE Foundation) in 2006. For many years after his Board service, he continued to give generously of his time, notably overseeing Advisor Today magazine.

In addition to his NAIFA leadership, Mark was active in numerous industry and community organizations, including the Lake Superior and Minnesota Associations of Insurance & Financial Advisors, the Arrowhead Estate Planning Council, the Million Dollar Round Table (Top of the Table), WDSE Public Television, the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Greater Duluth, and many others. He was a nationally recognized speaker and author whose work inspired countless professionals.

Mark’s wife, Julie, shared:

“Mark passed away Monday afternoon when he was napping. He just fell asleep. He was not in any pain and still had his sense of humor. His funeral will be on August 12th. We were so thankful he was a part of our life. – Julie and family”
