NAIFA–Minnesota March Updates: Education, Advocacy, and Action
March is packed with opportunities to learn, engage, and lead
Empathy and Earlier Intervention in Long-Term Care Planning | March 5
At our March 5 meeting at Midland Hills, NAIFA–MN welcomes Estate Planning & Elder Law Attorney Rachel Schromen for a compelling presentation titled:
Behind the Paperwork: Understanding the Emotional Toll of Long-Term Care Planning
When middle- and upper-middle-income families are confronted with the reality of long-term custodial care, the financial decisions can feel overwhelming—but the emotional weight of those decisions is often overlooked. This presentation moves beyond formulas and financial rules to focus on the human experience behind long-term care planning.
Rachel will explore how advisors can recognize emotional stress points earlier, respond with empathy, and guide clients through these difficult conversations with greater clarity and compassion. This is a must-attend session for professionals who want to deepen client trust and improve outcomes when it matters most.
March Madness: NAIFA-Style
March Madness isn’t just for the NCAA—NAIFA is getting in on the action too.
Starting February 22, Minnesota NAIFA members will compete against other states in NAIFA March Madness, a friendly but meaningful competition focused on supporting NAIFAPAC , NAIFA’s Political Action Committee.
Why does this matter? Because advocacy requires action—and resources. NAIFAPAC funds federal and state campaigns for members of Congress who engage with and listen to our industry. Without funding, our voice simply isn’t heard.
For example, NAIFA-MN member Corey Anderson regularly represents us at quarterly fundraisers with Congressman Emmer, the current House Majority Whip. NAIFA is proudly non-partisan—we work with leaders on both sides of the aisle. Our shared “party” is the financial services and insurance profession.
Each week, you’ll see NAIFAPAC promotions tied to March Madness. Jump in, participate, and help Minnesota take down the Badgers and other competing states. Every response counts.
Day on the Hill: Protecting Our Profession | March 18 (MN) & May 18–19 (DC)
Our ability to serve clients today exists because of those who advocated before us—and now it’s our turn.
NAIFA-MN invites you to be part of two critical advocacy opportunities:
March 18 | Day on the Hill – Minnesota State Capitol
Spend the day learning about current legislative issues affecting our industry and meeting directly with your state legislators to advocate for your profession and your clients.
May 18–19 | Congressional Visits – Washington, DC
Join fellow NAIFA members in Washington, DC to meet with members of Congress on federal issues impacting financial professionals and the families we serve.
Do you want your voice to be heard? Let’s go make it happen.
We already have more than five Minnesota members committed to DC—and we’d love to grow that number to 20 or more. Your presence matters.
March is packed with opportunities to learn, engage, and lead. We hope you’ll join us—whether in the meeting room, the Capitol, or the halls of Congress.
